Single Sadness...When everyone is in a relationship but you!

Image
I have honestly started to question “Is there anyone out there for me?” I think and imagine my perfect guy all the time just treating me and others with such kindness, and I imagine myself putting so much trust in him. I imagine someone that I can go to church with but someone that I can enjoy a social outing or concert with. I imagine a guy that is into me for my heart and not just my looks. I imagine a boy that is simple and cute and a little country. I imagine my perfect person ALL the time. And while this is a good thing, it can also be unhealthy. When we start to obsess over finding the right person it takes away from the season of life we are in right now. Yes, you should pray for a person to come in your life one day that makes you realized why it never worked with anyone else. But no, you should not spend everyday in misery waiting for your person. And no, you should not just date ANYONE that breathes oxygen just to feel wanted. No, you should not feel unhappy in your singl...

Glimpse of Being a Mom

Image
The "simple"job of babysitting everyday for the last two months has taught me more about myself, kids, and my future more than I would have imagined... My patience has been tested, I have finished some days feeling sooo drained, but I have also been loved and felt so much love for a child. I would like to express the lessons I have learned from keeping an 18 month-old little rascal of a boy. 1. With kids, nothing is simple. Well that's probably obvious you say, but a lot of people never put this into consideration before having kids. - You can't simply run to Walmart for some milk. Because that would require getting the child dressed and ready, with all their stuff (sippie cup, toy, diaper bag), fighting to get them buckled in a carseat and keeping them from running away in the store. And keeping them from crying in the store or constantly saying "bye-bye" - You can't simply go out to eat for a burger. Because you're trying ...

Does Social Media Cause Depression?

Image
2018 is upon us. And in this day in time a major aspect of our daily lives consist of social media! Whether you're an addict to Instagram Facebook Snapchat Twitter Pinterest all of them can affect your mental health and deprive you of overall happiness. Here's how: 1. F.O.M.O. I have this problem soooo bad! Fear of missing out!! When watching stories on snapchat of my friends having fun at an event I couldn't or didn't attend, I instantly get jealous and feel as whatever I'm doing in that moment isn't as great. But we should not live life in a fear or subconsciously worrying about what others are doing all the time. Because if we are always thinking that other people are living better than us we will not be able to freely experience the great things in our own life which can lead to depression.  2.  Judging others Everyone is guilty of forwarding a snapchat story or screenshotting someone else's post and sending to a frien...

When Temptation Gets Tough

Image
Today in society, temptation is all around us and very hard to avoid. Hearing people say "you only live once" and other tempting phrases makes it even harder. There are ways that we as Christians can exhibit self control: James 1:13-15 13) Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14) But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15) Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.  As mentioned in verse 15, everyone is enticed or "drawn to" their own evil desires. That means that something tempting to me may not cross the mind of someone else. Everyone struggles with different sins. Next time you are faced with a sin that you know you shouldn't commit think of the word POWER  (God's power to fight temptation)! P - Personal Choice   Joseph made a personal choice to himse...

It's The Little Things

Hebrews 11:5  ...be content with such things you have. For He H imself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Sometimes in life we never stop to notice the little things. We are always wanting and looking for big things like new cars, houses, jobs, etc to be content. Slowing down to stop and acknowledge some of the smaller, God given things on this earth helps us experience true happiness.  Here are some little things that can put joy in my soul:  1. Nature/Outdoors                 Sometimes just taking a little walk through the woods or feeling a warm fire in the midst of a cool fall night can just be so peaceful and instantly make me happy.  2. Dancing  Yes, I dance for my school, and it does make me happy. But sometimes it's more stressful because we are performing.  The best type of dancing is like in the bottom right picture when I'm just c...
